In order to eat cookie dough without cooking it, you can remove the eggs and bicarb from our chocolate chip cookie recipe. You should heat treat the flour to make it edible. Raw flour is essentially raw wheat that still has all the pesticides and bacteria on it as when it was wheat in the field. Cooking your flour helps to avoid food poisoning. You can heat treat the flour ahead of time and keep it in an airtight container or jar to use for all no-bake recipes. We also halved our cookie recipe for this page, as the cookie dough doesn't keep for as long as cooked cookies.
Heat-treating flour:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius.
- Place parchment paper on a baking tray. Spread 175g of flour on the baking sheet. Make sure you spread it in an even layer.
- Cook for about 5 minutes or so. Cool completely before using.
For the cookies:
Ingredients:
175g of heat-treated flour
1/2 tsp of salt
112g of butter
87g of caster sugar
87g of brown sugar
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
175g of chocolate chips and chopped up chocolate
(Optional) Chopped nuts
Method:
- In a smallish bowl, sieve the flour, bicarb and salt.
- In a large bowl use an electric mixer to cream the butter.
- Add in caster sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract and mix until creamy. Gradually beat in the flour mixture to form a dough. Mix in the chocolate (and optional chopped nuts).
- Mix it all together and enjoy eating your cookie dough!
